Three platforms. One mission.

Big edtech has had its turn.

Schools are spending enormous sums on one-size-fits-all platforms built by companies who've never set foot in a classroom. The evidence is mounting that much of this technology isn't working — and in some cases, it's making things worse.

Countries like Sweden have already started pulling back. A 2025 Nuffield Foundation report found a lack of evaluation and oversight across the edtech industry, with schools purchasing through "word of mouth or lured by big marketing and hype." Academy chain leaders are publicly questioning whether devices are any more beneficial than traditional methods. And in staffrooms everywhere, teachers know what the data is finally catching up to: generic tools built for shareholders don't serve students.

"Students who use computers very frequently at school do a lot worse in most learning outcomes."

We're not anti-technology in schools — we build edtech for a living. But there's a world of difference between generic platforms that park a student in front of a screen and tools designed to put insight into the hands of the adults who know those students best. VESPA Academy doesn't replace the coaching conversation — it creates the reason for one. That's the standard everything we build is held to: does this make the human interaction better, or does it replace it?

We build these tools because we've stood where you're standing. We know what eats a teacher's time. And we know what a school can actually afford.

From one portal
to three products

4Sight Education started with a simple conviction: the tools schools use should be as thoughtful as the people who work in them.

In 2020, Anthony Dennis built the first version of the VESPA Portal — a coaching platform designed to help sixth-form tutors have better conversations with their students. The framework behind it, developed alongside co-founders Martin Griffin and Steve Oakes, had already been used in hundreds of schools through their books The A Level Mindset and The GCSE Mindset. But the portal turned a set of ideas into something interactive, measurable, and scalable.

That first build sparked something bigger. The idea behind 4Sight was never to create a single product — it was to become a launchpad for education-focused technology. If VESPA proved that a well-designed platform could genuinely change how schools approach student development, what else could be built?

"Every product we build starts with the same question: what would actually help a teacher on a Tuesday morning?"

FL4SH arrived next — an AI-powered flashcard app that does something no other revision tool does: it works from the actual exam specification, trained on real past papers and mark schemes. SPARK followed, extending the validated psychometric approach from post-16 down to Key Stage 3.

4Sight Education remains a small company by design. Every product is built by the same person who speaks to the schools that use them. That closeness to the end user isn't a limitation — it's the entire point.

2017

VESPA Framework Launches

Martin Griffin and Steve Oakes publish The A Level Mindset. Schools across the UK begin adopting the VESPA approach to student coaching.

2018

First Online Questionnaire

The VESPA psychometric questionnaire goes digital — an online form generating personalised PDF reports for students and tutors. Schools begin embedding it into their coaching workflows.

2019

Tutor Resources Go Live

The first suite of VESPA tutor resources launches — ready-made slide decks and session plans sold to schools through Teachable, giving tutors structured, evidence-based content for coaching conversations.

2020

The First Portal

Anthony builds the VESPA Portal — turning the framework into a digital platform with questionnaires, coaching reports, and activity tracking. 4Sight Education is born.

2024

The Coaching Portal

A ground-up redesign transforms the VESPA report from a static document into a live coaching tool — built for students and tutors to work through together, setting targets and tracking mindset development over time.

2025

FL4SH Goes Live

AI-powered flashcards built from real exam specs launch on iOS and Android. The first product beyond VESPA proves the 4Sight model works.

2025–26

SPARK in Development

A psychometric mindset tool for 11–14 year olds, developed with Manchester Met University. The VESPA approach reaches younger students for the first time.
